What is Male Infertility?
Male infertility is the inability of a man to have children despite regular and unprotected sexual intercourse. Infertility can be caused by problems with sperm production, sperm quality or sperm transport pathways. Male infertility accounts for about half of all infertility problems in couples and can be caused by a variety of reasons:
- Sperm Production Problems: Azoospermia (no sperm) or oligospermia (low sperm count).
- Hormonal Imbalances: Abnormalities in testosterone or other reproductive hormones.
- Genetic Factors: Klinefelter syndrome or other genetic disorders.: Klinefelter syndrome or other genetic disorders.
- Structural Problems: Varicocele, testicular torsion or blockages in the ejaculation ducts.
- Environmental Factors: Smoking, alcohol, drug use or exposure to toxic substances.
- Other Health Problems: Infections, diabetes or sexually transmitted diseases.
Process Stages
- Evaluation and Diagnosis: In the first stage, the causes of infertility are evaluated with a detailed interview and physical examination with your doctor. A definitive diagnosis is made using sperm analysis, hormone tests, genetic tests and imaging methods such as ultrasound when necessary.
- Treatment Planning: After diagnosis, a personalized treatment plan is created according to the patient’s condition. Treatment options include lifestyle changes, medication, hormone therapy, surgical interventions and assisted reproductive techniques.
- Treatment Implementation: Treatment is applied according to the determined treatment plan. The treatment process is regularly monitored according to the patient’s response to treatment and the plan is updated when necessary.
